  • DVLA Personalised Registrations Replaces Its May Live Auction With an Online Timed Auction

    March 20, 2020

DVLA Personalised Registrations has switched its second Live auction of the year to one of its online Timed auction formats, in line with recent Governmental guidelines. The Agency has taken these steps which will affect the three-day Live auction, originally scheduled to be held at The Oxford Belfry Hotel from May 13th to May 15th. The same 1,250 personalised registrations will now be available for customers to bid on, in an online Timed auction, over a 7-day period commencing on Wednesday May 13th. Bidders will be able to register for the auction from Monday 6th April at 12noon.

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Senior Sales Manager, said: “For the safety of our customers and staff we have decided to change our Live auction in May to an online Timed one instead. The safety of all is paramount.

“We have taken these steps now at the earliest opportunity to ensure our loyal customer base can make suitable arrangements. We are not cancelling the sale. We are extremely fortunate in that, alongside our Live auction programme, we regularly hold online sales. It’s a hugely successful and well-proven formula.”

Timed auctions are held online, and bidders can bid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and each Lot has a published End Time on the website. Lots are sold on the basis of ‘Maximum Bids’ which means customers can win their registration for its reserve price only, plus the usual additional fees, if no one bids against them, no matter the Maximum Bid placed. The sales have ‘Sliding End Times’ which means if there is any bidding activity in the last 30 minutes, the End Time will move back a further 30 minutes in order to ensure everyone has a fair chance of winning the Lot. As with the Live auctions, all bidders must be registered in order to bid and this can all be carried out via the dvlatimedauction.co.uk website from Monday 6th April.

  • DVLA Personalised Registrations 2020 Live Auction Programme Gets Underway

    February 13, 2020

DVLA Personalised Registrations’ 2020 live auction programme will commence at the Casa Hotel, Chesterfield, from Wednesday (February 19).

Featuring 1,250 personalised registrations with reserves ranging from £250 to £2,500, the three-day sale includes an extensive blend of registrations aimed at all tastes.

This week’s event is the first of five held during the year; in May the Oxford Belfry Hotel, Thame, will be the setting for the Agency’s Spring sale while July’s Summer auction will be staged at the Cambridge Belfry Hotel, Cambridge. Autumn’s auction will be held at the Cottons Hotel, Knutsford, in September and the year will conclude at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel in November.

Registrations that typify those sought after by businesses included at the Casa Hotel this week include B199 TOW (reserve £250), ideal for large vehicle recovery operations. Flooring firms have shown an interest in F100 RED (£250) meanwhile SKK 11P (£300) has garnered attention from waste management and skip hire operations. PUB 805S (£250) would surely suit any publican.

    The catalogue is littered with name-related personalised registrations, from ADD 444M (£250), ANT 40N (£300) and FR11EYA (£400) to LY11 NNS (£400), L155 SSA (£250), NAT 41E (£300) and 55 SAJ (£1,200).

Registrations directly related to vehicles include F812 GTS (£250) and 812 GTS (£1,200) which correlate to the critically acclaimed Ferrari 812 GTS while owners of the ultra-exclusive Aston Martin DBS Superleggera supercar may be interested in DBS 750. Others include LAM 80J (£300) ideal for the Lamborghini driver, THE 718P (£250) for the Porsche 718 owner and TES 114A (£250) for the Tesla driver. Nissan fans are sure to bid on N155 SAN (£250).

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Senior Sales Manager, said: “2019 doubled as our 30th anniversary year and proved to be hugely successful. We not only celebrated our first ever complete 100 per cent sales conversion from a multi-day auction, but the feat was followed up in September. Our continual successes provide reassurance that the Great British motorist favours personalised registrations and we are here to ensure the best become available.”

  • DVLA Record Sale Kicks Off Its Series of 2020 Auctions

    January 15, 2020

The first DVLA Personalised Registrations auction of 2020 was instantly a record-breaker even before a single lot is sold… as it sees the highest number of lots in in the Agency’s 30-year auction history.

The 10-day Timed Auction, which features 2750 lots – 250 more than ever before, – has reserves ranging from £70 through to £2,500, is active and enables customers to bid online during a 10-day period that concludes on Wednesday, January 22.

Those registrations deemed of the highest value with £2,500 reserves include 2002 A, 400 J, 1313 J, 222 M, 44 O, 203 O, 180 S and 106 T. There are also numerous highly coveted single number one three letter combinations which have reserves of £2,400 including 1 LVE and 1 TNE. At the other end of the reserves scale ABZ 9557, BHZ 5555, DIG 1011, IIG 9999 and LIL 1600 to name but a few have been set with £70 starting prices.

Organising a 10-day online sale with such a high number and variety of lots is a clear indication of DVLA Personalised Registrations answering the demands of customers seeking online sales. It is the first auction of the year and follows 2019’s hugely successful live auction programme that witnessed two successive sales that completely sold out and the Agency’s third highest-selling personalised registration of all time when IG 1 fell under the gavel for £222,000.

Among the usual supercar related registrations featured in a sale include F40 TOY (reserve £250) which clearly relates to arguably the poster car of the 80’s, the Ferrari F40. Another fine Ferrari-related registration includes A308 FER (£250) while others associated to vehicles include A23 GTR (£130), 911 CH (£2,200), 550 GT (£2,200) GTA 10W (£250) A205 PEU (£130), 969 AB (£2,200). Name related registrations include ELS 444A (£250), F110 OYD (£130), GLE 8E (£300), GU11 EST (£250) and HU11 RST (£400) meanwhile James Bond fans may be interested in BMT 214B – which is close to the famed BMT 216A registration sitting on the iconic Aston Martin DB5 as used by the film hero.

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Senior Sales Manager, said: “Our online Timed Auctions are proving extremely popular, with a big variety of personalised registrations to suit all tastes and budgets this auction offers our customers more choice than ever, we look forward to what is sure to be an exciting few days of bidding ahead.”
